Weathering the Storm

Weathering The Storm

Isaiah 4:6  There will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.

Life has a way of presenting a storm or two that can do many things.  Sometimes a slight thunderstorm can bring much needed rain to a dry field.  Here in the Midwest where I live we’ve been  having a bit of a drought.  So rain of any kind is very welcome. Where other parts of the world where wildfires are bursting forth with the flames of fire, any kind of rain is often times prayed for just to quench out the flicker of the molten flames of destruction.  And then there are other parts of the world who have been devastated over the power of a storm so severe and destructive, it’s hard to know where to begin to pick up the pieces.

Although storms of the mother nature kind is the easiest to understand.  Sometimes, storms can take on more of an internal nature.  Perhaps you feel conflicted about what to do with a hard decision, maybe your boss isn’t a christian and lies to gain acceptance, maybe you’ve been wronged by a friend or family member.  Perhaps things are rocky in your marriage or a relationship of some kind.  Maybe you’ve been dealt a jolt of lightening with a bad medical report.  These are the things that can keep one awake at night and can be much harder to understand why they are happening.

But I tell you this.  There is one thing that will always give you peace.  The peace of calm waters, green pastures and peace within.  That is indeed the love of Christ.  Whenever you need shelter from the rain, shelter from heartache and strife.  God is there with open arms.  Know you are loved.  Ask that the Holy Spirit that lives within you pray on your behalf, ask for encouragement and guidance.  Then be still and wait for the voice within that will forever be your rock, your fortress. May the God our Father give you the peace you need as He wraps you up in his arms like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night.  God Bless you all.
