Cheese Drop Biscuits

2 c. flour                                          4 T. shortening
2 tsp. baking powder                       1 c. grated cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp. salt                                      3/4 c. milk

  Sift flour, measure, soft together baking powder, salt and flour.  Cut in cheese and shortening. Add milk and stir.  When soft dough appears, drop from teaspoon onto uncreased baking sheet.  Bake in hot oven (450º) 12 to 15 minutes.  Makes 18 biscuits.
